The Trust has been funded by Lotto NZ and the Manawatu District Council to erect a raised board walk on the west side of the forest connecting the stream to the carpark.

Walkers, joggers, dogs and bikes were creating large areas of damage to undergrowth, trampling on new seedlings and damaging large aerial roots of significant trees, putting their long term survival at risk were the prime reasons for establishing this raised boardwalk.

The construction of the board walk was started in February 2022 and its completion has been delayed due to unseasonal rains in February making the site a bog that workmen would only create more damage in so the project was stopped until the area dried out. Covid then took its toll on the workforce and the board walk construction is delayed again. It is now planned to be completed by late April.
